Earth Hour 2010

Mar 22. 10

World organizers are hoping 1,000,000,000 people will turn out their lights for Earth Hour 2010 this Saturday, March 27!

Earth hour is dedicated to making a positive impact on climate change, no matter who you are or where you live. You can contribute by making an effort to turn off your lights and unplug your electronics in your home or at your office, or both! This is a global initiative by the World Wildlife Fund in which everyone around the world is asked to turn off their lights at 8:30 p.m. local time this Saturday evening. Thank you for doing your part.

The program all began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, Earth Hour is intended to bring together entire communities around the world to heighten awareness about climate change and to inspire consumers and businesses to take practical actions to reduce their own carbon footprints.

“Last year, more than 10 million Canadians participated in Earth Hour, and this year we hope even more people turn off their lights, and more importantly, use that hour to think about how they can make every hour Earth Hour,” said Gerald Butts, president and CEO of WWF Canada.
