Food bank collections huge success at the Houston Branch.
Since November the Houston branch has been successful in raising over $1050 in food and monetary donations for their Food Bank Campaign. It started with a simple idea of asking our member’s to donate a food item; in return, we would reimburse up to $10 of their monthly service charges as a thank you. Many were very generous and simply donated items and money because of the cause. The staff donated $100 from their staff fund and another $200 from proceeds they raised over the year from other fundraising events they sponsored. As well, each staff donated $10 to a charity of their choice to attend the annual Bulkley Valley Credit Union Christmas Party. Finally, we sold our very own collector stuffed animal, Wonder the Wolfe. Today we presented the Salvation Army Food Bank with a cheque for $750 along with over $350 in nonperishable food items.
