Farmers Market continues to GROW!

Jul 03. 09

The Bulkley Valley Farmers Market Association recently received funding from the Economic Development Committee to assist with market development and strategic planning.  The BVFMA has had steady and stable growth from the time of its inception.  During the past few years the growth rate has been rapid and this trend is expected to continue. The Association wants and needs to be prepared to accommodate both increased demand from consumers, as well as increased interest from vendors.  It must understand its full role in the community and must be part of developing and articulating this role.

With proper foresight and planning, the Bulkley Valley Farmers Market can continue to be managed professionally as well as become a stronger more visible community service organization – one that continues to contribute significantly to farm incomes and to the economy of all communities in the Bulkley Valley.

By supporting the Association for a strategic plan as well as 2009 market development expenses, BVCU will have the help create employment for resource people, increase BVFMA capacity which will allow more support to local farming and cottage-based industries, improve the function of the market, and strengthen, promote and expand community events.

Bulkley Valley Credit Union congratulates everyone involved in the Farmers Market and their success! To learn more about the Bulkley Valley Credit Union’s Economic Development Fund, please visit the Community Funding page of our website.
