June 2 is Clean Air Day

May 30. 10

Celebrate Clean Air Day 2010 on Wednesday June 2!

As many staff as possible will find alternative transportation when coming to work on Wednesday. Please think about joining us!

The challenge of ensuring clean air can be met. Home energy improvements, tree planting programs, alternative transportation are just some of the choices that can be acted upon. In many cases, one action will reduce both air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions. Some actions can even save you money! Actions taken now and continued over the long-term can make a difference.

Here are some simple ways you can reduce GHG emissions at home:

  • Use caulking and weather stripping to seal all leaks around doors, windows, and cracks where heat escapes from your home.
  • Insulate when you renovate.
  • Use a programmable thermostat.
  • Clean your furnace filter regularly.
  • Use low-flow showerheads and fix leaky or dripping faucets.
  • Get rid of that old fridge.
  • Use cold water whenever you can to improve your clothes washer’s efficiency.
  • Let dishes air-dry rather than using the dishwasher’s drying cycle.
  • Use energy-efficient lighting products.
