‘tis the SEASON!
Dec 12. 08
Bulkley Valley Credit Union believes very strongly in the spirit of Christmas. The annual Christmas Staff Party took place last weekend and the staff members choose to make a donation to the local food hamper programs in lieu of exchanging gifts again this year. The donation for the Smithers Hamper alone was $700 and the Christmas Hamper Coordinators were very happy to accept the donation on December 12. This donation is IN ADDITION to the sponsoring of families that the BVCU staff do AND the hamper boxes that sit in each of the offices from the Hazeltons to the Lakes District to collect donations from the members. (Thank you to the staff at Glacier Toyota and The Peak for working with us this year.)
Smithers Community Services has overseen the Christmas Hamper program since 1983. The program is made possible completely through the generosity of the community. There were 330 hampers fill in 2008 and the support from the community was truly amazing. There are many ways for community members to make a donation this year. There is a Sponsor-A-Family program, Individual donations and Adopt-an-item program. There are also ways to volunteer. Kim and Jonathon need some help packing and sorting at the Depot. There is always a need for vehicles and drivers for delivery day which is Saturday, December 20th this year. For more information, please call Kim and Jonathon at 250 847 9515 or 250 847 6117 or you can email them at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
