Bulkley Valley Credit Union is helping support Smithers' bid to be this year's Hockeyville.Smithers is one of five finalists and the only representative from BC in this year's Kraft Hockeyville contest. The winner is chosen by the most number of votes received from members of the public.
Bulkley Valley Credit Union asks you to consider lending your support to the town's bid to become Hockeyville 2007. Voting is underway and will be available only until early Friday morning, March 16, 2007. Voting is done by going to http://www.cbc.ca/hockeyville/ and casting your vote online. This year there is no limit on the number of times that an individual can vote.
The tourism spin-offs would be enormous including $50,000.00 in arena upgrades if Smithers won the competition. Kitimat may host the game (free tickets only) but Smithers will host the team and have many activities planned for the players and for local fans. There is really nothing left to prove to Canada because Smithers bid last year proved it all - we just have to vote ourselves into the number one spot this year!
Please take the time to vote as many times as you can and watch Hockey Night In Canada on CBC March 17th to see Smithers take the Hockeyville Cup this year!
