WALK FOR THE CURE coming soon

Bulkley Valley Credit Union was very pleased to make a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation recently. The goal of the JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. The Foundation is the largest not-for-profit, non-governmental support of diabetes research worldwide.There is a WALK FOR THE CURE event being held in Smithers on Sunday, October 14, 2007. The cost of diabetes, human and financial, emphasizes the importance of finding a cure:
- Insulin does not cure diabetes nor does it prevent the onset of complications.
- Diabetes is a leading cause of kidney failure, adult blindness, nerve damage, heart disease and stroke.
- Diabetes costs the Canadian economy more than $13 Billion per year.
- More than 2 million Canadians are affected by diabetes.
