Winter Fishing Derby Fun
Feb 14. 08
A good number of people braved the cold weather and snow last weekend to take part in the 5th Annual Family Day Fishing Derby at Ross Lake Provincial Park on Sunday February 10, 2008. Fun was had by all who attended the event.
Dean Paranich was the big winner this year! He caught the largest fish and also cooked up the best pot of chili to win First Place in the Chili Contest. Dean’s winning brook trout weighed in at 2.5 pounds. Coming in a close second was Cindy Heska with a 2.1 pound rainbow trout, and third place went to Rob Snider with a 2.0 pound rainbow trout.
This event was organized by the New Hazelton Volunteer Fire Department - Rescue. This volunteer organization not only looks after the communities of Hazelton, but also provides highway rescue from Moricetown to Cedarvale to Cranberry Junction.
Bulkley Valley Credit Union’s Community Support Committee supported the Fishing Derby this year with a $150.00 cash donation. We would like to congratulate the winners and also the organizers of the Fishing Derby. To learn more about our Community Funding and Donations, please visit our Community page on the website.
