Skeena Watershed Conservation Coalition is very excited to announce the GRAND OPENING of the 10,000 Salmon Exhibit this Friday afternoon at 4:00 at Bastion Park in Old Hazelton!
Last year 10,000 little paper salmon were sent out to students to be decorated so that they could be incorporated into a giant regional art project.  Communities across northwestern BC sent back an overwhelming response, about 60%!!!  This is the first time a project of this scale has taken place in the region. These beautiful artistic creations made by the youth from pre-school to grade 12 have been applied to 28 giant paper-mache salmon and will be on exhibit throughout the summer. The 10,000 Salmon Exhibit will continue until the end of October.

SWCC believe this project truly embodies the spirit of the Skeena swim and will help that spirit of celebration and connection continue in our watersheds.

Communities that participated in the project include:
New Hazelton, South Hazelton, Old Hazelton, Two Mile, Moricetown, Smithers, Houston, Skidegate, Masset, Charlotte City, Gingolx, New Aiyansh, Gitwinsilkw, Terrace, Port Edward, Prince Rupert, Gitsegukla, Kitwanga, Gitanyow, Kispiox, Stewart, Telegraph Creek, Iskut, Dease Lake, Nass Valley, Gitanmaax, Glen Vowell, Kitimat, Telkwa, and Greenville.
