NEI Investments is a mutual fund company that offers two awardwinning fund families – Northwest Funds & Ethical Funds.

Northwest Funds and Ethical Funds offer a broad spectrum of investment styles, asset classes and risk-return profiles. NEI Select Portfolios and Ethical Select Portfolios provide investors with fully diversified, all-in-one investment solutions, tailored to their unique needs. Each NEI Select Portfolio and Ethical Select Portfolio is built from a different mix of equities and fixed income investments to balance volatility and growth potential. Investors simply choose the Portfolio that is strategically and tactically engineered to align with their goals and risk tolerance.

NEI is home to Canada’s largest team of in-house socially responsible investing specialists who provide environmental, social and governance (ESG) analysis of socially responsible investments (SRIs), including NEI’s own Ethical Funds.

About ®Ethical Funds, Socially Responsible Investing and The Bottom Line

As Canada’s leader in socially responsible investing (SRI), Ethical Funds has spent many years helping investors make money and make a difference. Ethical Funds believes that the best possible returns can be achieved by investing in companies that combine strong financial performance with positive social, environmental and governance (ESG) performance. This is particularly important as investors worldwide become increasingly concerned about the impact our activities are having on the global community. Ethical Funds actively engage with corporations to mitigate risk by encouraging them to adopt more sustainable behaviours. After all, evidence shows that socially responsible companies do better in the long run.

To ensure every investment they make meets their rigorous standards, Ethical Funds evaluate a company’s investment value and identity the environmental, social and governance risks the company faces.

  • Environmental Risk: Do the company’s activities have a negative impact on the air, land or water? Ethical Funds look into issues, such as biodiversity, land-use planning, emissions, climate change and water use.
  • Social Risk: Does the company respect human rights and workers’ safety?
  • Governance Risk: How is the company run? Ethical Funds look at factors such as board of director diversity, independence and executive compensation.
