The Home 4 Hospice Project

    Beautiful volunteers, doing amazing work

Houston Hospice is a volunteer- based organization that operates entirely by donations and grants. “Supporting members in our community during their end of life journey, so no person or family feels alone or ill equipped”.

    They provide the following services:

Grief and Bereavement Support – Houston Hospice Society has trained volunteers who provide grief and bereavement support for individuals and their families in a supportive and confidential environment.

Respite Services – Houston Hospice Society has trained volunteers who provide respite services in order to support caregivers, or to ensure individuals with limited supports are not alone during end of life.

Equipment Loan Library – They have a variety of equipment including mattresses/beds, wheelchairs, commodes, walkers, bath stools and lounge chairs available for loan to individuals choosing to be home at end of life.

The Home 4 Hospice project: “We are embarking on a significant campaign to renovate a home for Houston Hospice Society. It will serve as the heart of our operations, enabling us to extend compassionate care and support to terminally ill individuals and their families in our community.”

    Their vision is:

    1. To permanently bring our office and all our equipment under one roof in a “Home 4 Hospice”.

    2. To purchase our own house, so we never have to move again. (Which we did on Aug 7th, 2024).

    3. To reach out to the community to ask for help to support our vision by securing funds to cover the costs of renovations to make it suitable for our needs.

    4. To purchase a van for delivering our equipment. (Our most requested equipment is our hospital beds. They are heavy and awkward to move and often moved in our volunteer’s vehicles).

    5. To secure funding for 2 part-time employees—an admin assistant and a community connector.

    6. To secure funding for training, conferences and new equipment.

    7. To improve community engagement and awareness of the work of Houston Hospice Society.
