Once again, the Lakes District Fall Fair was a very successful event with participants and visitors from Quesnel through to Terrace and Kitimat. Thanks must go out to the group of dedicated and hardworking volunteers who work through the year to make this event bigger, better, and more successful each year. KUDOS to them!!
The Lakes District Branch of BVCU donated $1000 to two different events at the fair this year - the Friday Night Children-Youth Festival and the Stock Dog Trials, which were both very popular! The branch also supported the 4H auction with a purchase of a large healthy swine!

The major upgrades to the Hagwilget Bridge have been completed. The bridge is a crucial link for residents, as well as commercial traffic and the many tourists who come to visit the beautiful area. The $5.2 million project included the replacement of the structural steel components on the bridge's main towers and superstructure. Work on the 83 year old bridge is part of 'BC on the Move', the BC government's 10-year plan for improvement of the province's transportation network.
